Cymbal Tech
The Cymbal Tech supports Redline’s battery education program by providing section-specific instruction for the cymbal section. This role helps implement the pedagogical, technical, musical, visual, and rehearsal approach established by the Battery Caption Head and reinforced by the Cymbal Lead Tech.
The Cymbal Tech works directly with members to support achievement, consistency, preparation, equipment care, and performance quality throughout the season.
Summary of Tasks:
Teach section-specific technique, music, exercises, and show material
Support musical, technical, visual, timing, and performance achievement within the section
Reinforce the battery technique program and rehearsal approach
Support proper section equipment maintenance, including tuning, waxing, cleaning, and care routines as applicable
Provide clear member feedback during rehearsals and performances
Communicate section needs, concerns, and progress to the Cymbal Lead Tech or Battery Caption Head
Support member preparation, accountability, rehearsal habits, and section culture
Qualifications/Desired Traits:
Demonstrated commitment to Redline’s mission, values, and organizational success
Strong understanding of cymbal technique, timing, listening, musicality, visual responsibility, equipment care, and performance achievement
World Class WGI/DCI marching or teaching experience highly preferred.
Ability to implement the Battery Caption Head’s pedagogical and technical program
Ability to receive direction from the Battery Caption Head and Cymbal Lead Tech
Ability to collaborate professionally with battery staff, visual staff, admin leadership, and members
Ability to support section coverage needs and attend at least one full rehearsal weekend per month, or approximately six rehearsal blocks every four weeks, unless otherwise approved
Access to phone, email, computer, reliable internet, and tools needed to review music, video, schedules, and rehearsal materials
