Audio Engineer
The Audio Engineer supports Redline’s front ensemble and full ensemble performance by managing audio setup, operation, troubleshooting, balance, and equipment readiness. This role helps ensure microphones, speakers, mixers, cables, electronics, samples, synths, and related systems function reliably in rehearsals and performances.
The Audio Engineer works closely with the Front Ensemble Caption Head, Sound Designer, front ensemble staff, and equipment personnel to support the implementation of Redline’s sound design and electronic performance responsibilities.
Summary of Tasks:
Support audio setup, teardown, operation, and troubleshooting
Manage microphones, speakers, mixers, cables, electronics, playback systems, and related equipment
Support sound design implementation, samples, synths, patches, triggering, and balance needs
Help maintain audio equipment organization, care, storage, and readiness
Communicate audio issues, equipment needs, and setup concerns to the Front Ensemble Caption Head or appropriate leadership
Support performers and staff in understanding audio setup, operation, and care expectations
Attend rehearsals, performances, staff meetings, and major Redline activities as assigned
Qualifications/Desired Traits:
Demonstrated commitment to Redline’s mission, values, and organizational success
Strong understanding of live audio setup, signal flow, microphones, mixers, speakers, cables, electronics, troubleshooting, and performance reliability
Familiarity with MainStage or similar live performance audio software required
Prior experience with WGI, DCI, marching band, indoor percussion, live sound, theater audio, music production, or event audio preferred
Ability to support audio system setup, operation, troubleshooting, and equipment care
Ability to collaborate professionally with the Front Ensemble Caption Head, Sound Designer, front ensemble staff, equipment personnel, admin leadership, and members
Ability to support audio coverage needs and attend at least one full rehearsal weekend per month, or approximately six rehearsal blocks every four weeks, unless otherwise approved
Access to phone, email, computer, reliable internet, and tools needed to review audio plans, schedules, video, and rehearsal materials
