Will Alderman

Front Ensemble

Will holds a bachelors degree from Western Michigan University in music performance where he studied with Judy Moonert.  From there he went on to study with Gordon Stout at Ithaca College in New York where he received his masters degree in music performance.  During his time in school Will performed in master classes with such artists as Michael Burritt, Valerie Naranjo, and Bob Becker. Currently, Will is based in Kalamazoo, MI where he works as a freelance musician.  As an educator will has worked with over twelve area schools.  He is the percussion director/arranger at Plainwell,  Otsego, Portage Northern, and Portage Central Schools.

Will has performed all across the country in various settings.  In the marching world, he has performed with Northcoast Academy and the Western Michigan University Drumline. During his time in school, he had the privilege of performing with many world renowned artists such as Gordon Stout, Valerie Naranjo, and Gif Howarth. Will was a founding member of the Ithaca College Graduate Percussion Quartet. He was principal percussionist and timpanist for the WMU Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Additionally, he has performed with the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Brass Choir, Contemporary Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Band. Professionally, Will has performed with Southwest Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Finger Lakes, Cornell Symphony Orchestra, and The Kalamazoo Singers.
