Shane Swartz
Basses

Shane started his marching career in 2016 with the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band where he fell in love with bass drumming. He continued by participating in the marching band and winter percussion until 2019 when he accepted a contract with Shadow Drum and Bugle Corps. That winter he had the privilege of starting his first season with Redline Percussion and was contracted with The Crossmen for the 2020 DCI season until covid hit that March. During Covid, Shane found a way to further his passion with the marching arts through teaching at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools as a Bass Drum Technician starting in the summer of 2021.

After a short hiatus, Shane returned to Redline Percussion in 2023 as a member of the bass line, but made the decision following the end of that season to continue his career as an educator. He used that extra time to focus on graduating college with a degree in Political Science from Michigan State University and teaching with Walled Lake Consolidated Schools.

Shane came on as a battery staff member during the 2025 WGI season with Redline Percussion alongside Ethan Scartelli (who he had marched bass drum with at Plymouth-Canton in 2018 and at Redline in 2020!). Following the end of the 2025 season, Shane was offered the position as Walled Lake Consolidated Schools Battery Coordinator, which he couldn’t have been more excited to accept.

In his free time (when it exists), Shane enjoys reading, watching movies and tv, playing Dungeons and Dragons, spending time with family, distance running, and going to the gym!

Shane is extremely excited to have the opportunity to continue teaching at Redline Percussion this winter and can’t wait for everyone to see what is in store for Redline 2026!
