Ethan Scartelli
Ensemble Coordinator / Bass Tech
Ethan Scartelli is an active marching percussion educator, arranger, and designer from Canton, MI. This will be his second year on staff at Redline, and fifth overall with the organization.
As a battery technician, he has instructed numerous high school programs in Southeast Michigan including Plymouth-Canton, Walled Lake, Novi, and Southgate Anderson. In addition to his teaching duties, he is an active private lessons instructor and is always welcoming new students.
Ethan has a diverse range of performance experience in the marching arts. In the WGI circuit, he spent three seasons with Redline (2020-2022), and two seasons with Rhythm X (2023-2024) where the ensemble earned WGI Bronze and Silver medals respectively. His DCI experience includes one summer with the Mandarins (2021) and two summers with the Bluecoats (2022-2023) contributing to the ensemble’s DCI Silver Medals in both years and earning the corps' inaugural Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance in 2022. Additionally, Ethan was an active member of the Michigan State Drumline for three seasons (2020-2021, 2023).
Ethan has had the privilege of learning from numerous esteemed designers and instructors, most notably Tom Rarick, Roger Carter, Ryan Ellis, Tim Jackson, Ben Pyles, Taha Ahmed, Jon Weber, James Sparling, John Lluvera, Tommy Roam, Zach Gruse, Russell Wharton, Benjy Braude, Jared Kortz, Nond Sil, Timon Sherman, Andy Wade, and Eric Sorenson.
Outside of the marching arts, Ethan holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Michigan State University and currently works as a Territory Account Manager with Acentus, a medical supply company specializing in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices. Beyond work and band, he enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, writing music, and staying active at the gym. Ethan is incredibly excited to return for RL26 and is once again looking forward to giving back to the ensemble that launched his independent marching career.
