Ethan Scartelli is an active marching percussion performer, educator, and arranger/composer from Canton, MI. This will be his first year on staff at Redline, but his fourth overall with the organization.

As a battery/bass drum technician, he works primarily with the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park marching ensembles and has also instructed numerous other programs in Southeast Michigan, including Novi High School and Southgate Anderson High School. In addition to his teaching duties, he is an active private lessons instructor and is always welcoming new students. Outside of teaching, he is completing his degree in Business Management at Michigan State University this fall.

Ethan has a diverse range of performance experience in the marching arts. In the WGI circuit, he spent three seasons with Redline (2020-2022), serving as Battery Captain in the 2022 season. He then went on to perform with Rhythm X for two seasons (2023-2024), where he contributed to the ensemble’s WGI Bronze and Silver medals and set a new ensemble record while serving as bass section leader in his age-out season. His DCI experience includes one summer with the Mandarins (2021) and two summers with the Bluecoats (2022-2023). With the Bluecoats, he served as bass section leader in his age-out season, contributing to the ensemble’s DCI Silver Medals in both years and earning the corps inaugural Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance in 2022. Additionally, Ethan was an active member of the Michigan State Drumline for three seasons (2020-2021, 2023).

Ethan has had the privilege of learning from numerous esteemed designers and instructors, most notably Tom Rarick, Roger Carter, Ryan Ellis, Tim Jackson, Ben Pyles, Taha Ahmed, Jon Weber, James Sparling, John Lluvera, Tommy Roam, Zach Gruse, Russell Wharton, Benjy Braude, Jared Kortz, Nond Sil, Timon Sherman, Andy Wade, and Eric Sorenson.

Outside of his involvement in band, Ethan enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, writing music, and maintaining an active lifestyle at the gym. He is incredibly excited to join the staff for RL25 and is eager to give back to the ensemble that launched his independent marching career.
